For over 30 years, Diana VanDusen has been a tireless force in the world of animal rescue. Her passion isn't just a hobby; it's a calling. Through Horn Creek Rescue, Diana has dedicated her life to the most vulnerable animals – those with significant medical issues, those overlooked, and those other rescues can't or won't help. She is the last hope for countless dogs and cats facing impossible odds, taking on staggering vet bills and providing loving care when no one else will.

A Crisis at Our Doorstep: The Looming Loss of Our 501(c)(3) and a Severed Lifeline

Tragically, Horn Creek Rescue is facing an unprecedented crisis. The rising cost of veterinary care has become unsustainable, and Diana is on the verge of losing Horn Creek Rescue's vital 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. This isn't due to mismanagement, but to an overwhelming surge in medical cases and the sheer cost of giving these neglected animals the chance they deserve.

Adding to this dire situation, local humane societies and shelters are currently operating at severe overcapacity. This means they are often forced to give away animals, making it nearly impossible for smaller rescues like Horn Creek to find adoptive homes for their own residents. Diana currently cares for 20 incredible dogs and 110 cats and kittens who are ready for their forever families, but with the current epidemic of abandoned animals on the rise, finding them homes is more challenging than ever.

Even more critically, about a year ago, Horn Creek Rescue's primary Facebook page was hacked, forcing Diana to create a new one and effectively losing 90% of her loyal supporters and their vital donations. This catastrophic event left Horn Creek Rescue with very little incoming support. With dwindling donations and no new homes for her adoptable dogs and cats, Diana has been single-handedly bearing the immense financial burden of caring for all these animals herself. She is using her own limited funds to ensure these dogs and cats receive food, shelter, and crucial medical attention.

Horn Creek Rescue is now on the brink of having to shut down completely. If this happens, it won't just be the end of Diana's decades of dedicated work; it will mean that countless animals, many with complex needs that no other rescue will take, will be left without assistance, facing an uncertain and likely bleak future.
