Diana, my 6-year-old cat, had always been a healthy kitty. She and her twin sister, Dahlia, came into my life as foster kittens, and I quickly realized they were already home with me. Diana has always been slim, active, and on a low-carb diet, so it was a shock when she suddenly developed diabetes with no warning signs or risk factors. Most cats who develop diabetes are older, male, overweight, or have been on steriods, but Diana was none of those things. I only discovered her condition when she was already in severe diabetic ketoacidosis, dangerously close to death.
I rushed Diana to the emergency vet, where she spent days in intensive care ($15,459.09). The incredible team at VEG ER Upper East Side saved her life, but the cost was overwhelming. Since then, Diana has needed several follow-up appointments with her primary vet and a specialist, all adding up to significant vet bills over just a few months, the grand total is now: $17,955.97.
While I am committed to managing her ongoing care, including insulin, needles, glucose testing strips and lancets, and special Rx food, I am only asking for help with the emergency and follow-up bills that saved her life.
Diana is now thriving as a well-managed diabetic cat, and I am so grateful for every day we have together. She’s gone from a spicy, fearful 3-month old foster kitten to the cuddliest lap cat. She likes to curl up and sleep in the crook of my neck. After everything we’ve been through, I know we were meant to be together. Please consider helping us recover from this unexpected crisis so Diana can continue to live a long, happy life. Your support means the world to both of us.
