Hi, my name Diana Mireles and I'm raising funds for the OrCam MyEyes Pro device. OrCam MyEye is a revolutionary voice activated device that attaches to virtually any glasses. It can instantly read to you text from a book, smartphone screen or any other surface, recognize faces, help you shop on your own, work more efficiently, and live a more independent life.

 

 

 

 

In 2005, I lost vision in my right eye due to an accident at work. In 2010, it was discovered that I had advanced open-angle glaucoma in my left eye. I continued to work with the aid of assisted technology until 2015, at which time I was let go because the company eliminated my position. In early 2019, I lost all vision in my left eye, and am now completely blind.

 

When I lost my job I became active in my community, Belmont Cragin, where I started to help people who face their own hardships and difficulties. Moved by their strength, and with community support, I have been able to navigate living without my vision, but I am hoping that with the help of OrCam I can gain the independence I need to continue to be in solidarity and support my community. The OrCam MyEye device costs $4,500 and I won't be able to afford them on my own, so I will be raising funds here until I can afford to purchase them.
