Help Diana and Scott Wright
My name is Ryan Dibble and I am raising money to help my mother and stepfather recover from the damages they received to their home from a flash flood.
On 8/18/21 I received a hysterical phone call and messages from my mother stating she could not find her cats or dog. She hung up and sent me a bunch of photos of massive amounts of water all over the inside of the house and backyard. I immediately called her back and she stated she was waiting to be rescued, that she was stuck on the second floor. I left work and tried to help her but was stopped in Canisteo due to the flooding. I was not able to get anywhere close to her.
While speaking with sheriffs and traffic workers my mom called and said she was rescued with a bucket truck along my brother, his fiancé and her pets. They had to stay in a hallway of the school until the water went down and family could come get them to evacuate the area. My stepfather works on the road and was not able to get to my mom in time to help her cope with watching their entire life get washed away.
The next day the water was low enough for us to go back to the house and witness the massive damage that the town , community and their house took. The disaster caused a state of emergency to be declared in the area.
Inside the house the water was at shoulder height, all furniture and appliances are destroyed. On the first floor they lost a bathroom, kitchen, bedroom , laundry room and living room. With the flooding that came it left behind thick mud that has covered everything. It is inside drawers, inside every cabinet, shelf and even inside safes and totes destroying important personal documents and family photos and possessions.
The most devastating damage is that the foundation of the house is ruined and you can feel the house leaning while we were cleaning it out. The entire house is gutted, floors and carpets have been pulled up, walls have to removed. They are without power until NYSEG can cut them loose on the 30th to start repairs.
My stepfather also took significant damage to everything he had in his garage from all types of tools, mowers, generators, welders, anything with an engine was underwater and now left with a thick layer of mud.
Right now the four of them and two dogs are crammed in my uncles house with his family until they can find a new home. They are currently looking for a camper or apartment to stay in while they pick up the pieces and start to rebuild their home that they lost.
Any donations and proceeds will go towards helping them find a new home and furnish it with what they lost. The only furnishings that were salvaged was my brothers bed set, and the living room TV, everything else was destroyed. There is no help coming in from FEMA, and insurance is only covering the vehicles that had collision on them since they don’t live in a flood zone and flood insurance was not needed.

Thank you for any contribution and for your support while my family fights through this devastating time.
