Help Dharmamayi get gender-affirming surgery

Dharmamayi has been a friend of mine for more than ten years. They are insightful, intuitive and know their own mind, with an infectious laugh and a wonderful smile. They are in the process of transitioning socially and physically in order to better align their life and body with their non-binary identity, and the next step is chest surgery. They want to live their life authentically, to be able to be themselves.

To be seen by the NHS is heartbreakingly slow (currently 51 months) and so Dharmamayi has decided to go privately and needs our help. This is a deep-seated need that affects all aspects of their life, causing discomfort, distress, and barriers to activities of many kinds. They have to lay themselves bare time and time again, digging deep as they have to explain a decision that is deeply personal. This requires bravery, strength and determination, especially in our current climate. Their unpredictable health prevents them from working as much as they would need to able to fund this surgery themselves, so if you are in a position to help, even in a small way, it would be most gratefully received.

Here is a breakdown of costs relating to Dharmamayi’s top surgery:-

£1000 so far on appointments to acquire a diagnosis and necessary referrals

£8300 for the surgery itself

Between £750-£1000 in lost earnings

Anything you can give will be put into a separate bank account specifically to contribute towards these costs.
