Hola, mi nombre es Dhara Adkins, y estoy recaudando fondos para poder continuar con mi tratamiento y recuperación tras haber sido diagnosticada con carcinoma de células renales en etapa 4 —una forma agresiva de cáncer de riñón que ahora se ha extendido a mis pulmones y a mi columna (vértebra L3).

Hace apenas unos meses, mi vida cambió por completo. Lo que comenzó como un dolor de espalda y cansancio terminó siendo el descubrimiento de un gran tumor en mi riñón derecho. Después de una cirugía mayor para removerlo, los nuevos estudios mostraron que el cáncer ya había alcanzado mi columna baja y mis pulmones.

Ahora me preparo para comenzar un tratamiento difícil, pero lleno de esperanza, que incluye:

• Dos tipos de inmunoterapia (Opdivo + Yervoy) cada dos semanas para entrenar mi sistema inmunológico a combatir el cáncer.

• Píldoras de quimioterapia dirigida para controlar la propagación y proteger mi riñón restante.

• Fentanilo y manejo del dolor nervioso para controlar el dolor severo causado por la lesión espinal.

Estos tratamientos son extremadamente costosos, y muchos de los medicamentos, estudios y traslados no están completamente cubiertos por el plan médico. Mi familia y yo estamos haciendo todo lo posible —pero necesitamos ayuda para darme la mejor oportunidad de luchar contra esta enfermedad y recuperar mi fuerza.

Cada donación se destinará directamente a:

• Costos de inmunoterapia y medicamentos

• Laboratorios especializados y estudios de seguimiento

• Cuidado del dolor y traslados a los centros de tratamiento

• Gastos diarios y de recuperación durante este proceso

Hi, my name is Dhara Adkins, and I’m raising funds to continue my treatment and recovery after being diagnosed with Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of kidney cancer that has now spread to my lungs and spine (L3 vertebra).

Just a few months ago, my life changed completely. What began as back pain and fatigue led to the discovery of a large tumor in my right kidney. After a major surgery to remove the kidney, new scans showed that the cancer had already reached my lower spine and lungs.

I am now preparing to begin a difficult but hopeful treatment plan that includes:

• Two forms of immunotherapy (Opdivo + Yervoy) every two weeks to train my immune system to fight the cancer.

• Targeted chemotherapy pills to control the spread and protect my remaining kidney.

• Fentanyl and nerve pain management to control severe pain from the spinal lesion.

These treatments are extremely costly, and many of the medications, scans, and travel expenses are not fully covered by insurance. My family and I are doing everything we can — but we need help to give me the best chance to fight this disease and regain my strength.
