My name is Megan, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my best friend, Dezzarea. I’ve had the honor of walking through life with her for over three decades. She is a loving wife, a proud mother of three, and a very passionate kindergarten teacher.
This past Sunday (October 19), after her son's soccer game at Evans Field in South Park, Dez was in a terrible accident. A falling tree brought down electrical lines causing a pole to snap and strike Dez as she walked by, trapping her. She was with her two daughters, holding her 3-year-old in her arms when it happened. By the grace of God, both of her daughters were completely unharmed.
Unable to be life flighted due to inclement weather, she was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and underwent a major surgery on Tuesday. The impact from the fallen line — believed by her surgeon to have struck her head and upper back — resulted in devastating spinal injuries. She now has 20 screws and a rod running from her T2 to T11 vertebrae. Her road to recovery will be very long and incredibly challenging, physically, emotionally, mentally and financially.
Dez is anchored in a deep and unwavering faith in Christ shown by her incredible strength these last few days. We don't always understand God's plan but as Dez and her family navigate these next few weeks and months, I am asking for your help — any amount, no matter how small, will go directly to support Dezzi and her family.
Most importantly, we ask for your prayers. Her faith remains unshaken, and we are clinging to the hope and healing that only Christ can provide.
Thank you for loving this family, for praying, and for giving what you can. We are so grateful for another day with her — and we know that God is not finished with her story.
With love and gratitude,
Megan
