Dezirae is a devoted mother of four who has faced more than her share of challenges. After escaping a domestic violence situation, she spent a year working tirelessly to secure safe housing for her children. Thanks to her determination, she was approved for HUD and finally found a place to call home. I met Dezirae when I donated clothes and toys for her children, and I’ve seen firsthand how hard she works to provide for her family.



For a year, Dezirae managed to keep her family stable, but when she opened her home to a friend in need, things took a turn. The friend has not contributed to rent and now owes Dezirae money, leaving her unable to pay the bills. With four young children—one of whom is almost five and has autism—Dezirae is now facing a three-day pay or quit notice. She’s doing everything she can, but the situation is overwhelming.
