Hello, my name is Taylor and at the end of November, my partner Dez was diagnosed with liver failure. After months of declining health, Dez has been in the hospital since late November and is currently in the ICU. They’re dealing with severe pain, swelling, limited mobility, and significant loss of vision. I don’t know when they’ll be out of the ICU; the goal right now is just to treat the complications as they come and manage pain while we wait for a transplant. As of now, it is unknown when Dez will be added to the transplant list, but we have been told it could be up to 5 or 6 months. They’ve been unable to work and will be unable for the foreseeable future.
Additionally, the morning before Dez was admitted into the ICU, we lost our 16-year-old pup Tilly to paralyzing osteoporosis. This has led me to take a temporary leave from work to help take care of both Dez and our remaining 10-year-old pup Bowie, who’s never been left alone for this long. I’m the sole caretaker for both of them.
We are imploring anyone, who can, to help us facilitate rent, bills, or necessities for the upcoming months as we fight to get through this difficult transition in our lives and maintain any semblance of normality that we can.
