Our dear friend Dexter has recently been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease — a progressive and currently incurable condition that affects the nervous system, gradually impacting muscle control. This devastating news has turned Dexter and his wife Janay’s world upside down.
As you can imagine, this diagnosis comes with overwhelming emotional, physical, and financial challenges. Dexter and Janay are now faced with having to make significant changes to their lives and home in order to prepare for the journey ahead.
Why We're Raising Funds
Dexter and Janay need our support as they begin to:
- Remodel their home to accommodate accessibility needs (such as ramps, widened doorways, stair lifts, and accessible bathrooms)
- Purchase assistive equipment to help Dexter maintain independence and safety as the disease progresses
- Pursue IVF treatment to grow the family they've always dreamed of
- Travel and make lasting memories together, cherishing every moment while they can
About Dexter & Janay
If you know Dexter and Janay, you know how deeply rooted they are in our community. Whether it’s coaching, mentoring youth, helping neighbors, or simply showing up with kindness, they have always led with generosity and love. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
This diagnosis has come with a lot of uncertainty and fear, but we hope to ease some of the burden by helping them financially so they can focus on what matters most — each other, their health, and their dreams.
