Help Dexter Heal from Abuse

What should have been an easy and normal transport yesterday, turn into an awful emergency for a dog we pulled from a Puppy Mill. We were notified by the transporters that our dog, Dexter, was currently bleeding from his scrotum. The owner told them that the "band" did not fall off, which was why he was bleeding from his scrotum. Thinking the worst, we spoke with our vet to come up with a plan, and she agreed to see him last night.

We picked Dexter up and rushed him to our vet. As we were prepping him for surgery it was clear that a "band" wasn't used to castrate him, but instead a caustic solution was injected into his testicles. This caused his scrotum to burn off, which is beyond painful for a dog. He licked his testicles to help soothe the pain, which causes chemical burns to his lip and palate (roof of his mouth).

This wasn't an easy surgery, but our amazing vet got the job done. His testicles were barely there and she had to remove the rest of his dead scrotum to close up the area. We were no expecting this cost, so today we are asking for your help. Dexter is on the mend to recovery, and we are happy we got him in our care when we did. We are keeping the details limited as this is an ongoing investigation.
