7/30/25 update: Dexter has to have a second surgery as the torn skin they connected to the healthy skin has decided to fully die off and not heal correctly. Unfortunately for Dexter, that means another surgery. For us, that means another 1,000. We really appreciate all of the funds thus far

Help Dexter Recover After a Bobcat Attack

We never imagined we'd be writing this—but here we are, shaken and hopeful.

A few nights ago, our beloved 14-year-old dog, Dexter, was mauled by a bobcat just two steps from our front door during his nightly potty break. In a matter of seconds, our sweet senior pup went from safe and cozy to fighting for his life.

Dexter was rushed to the emergency vet, where he spent 72 hours in critical care. The vets worked around the clock to stabilize him, treat deep puncture wounds, and begin the long road to healing. Thankfully, he's still with us—and showing signs of strength we didn’t know were possible.

But now, we’re facing over 7,000$ in veterinary bills for the emergency stay, medications, and initial surgery. And we’re not out of the woods yet—Dexter may require a second surgery if the wounds don’t start sealing properly in the next few days.

As a family with two small children and still fairly early in our careers, this kind of unexpected expense is heavy. We’re doing everything we can, but we’ve also had so many friends and loved ones ask how they can help—which is why we’re creating this page.
