My daughter's dog, Dexter, a 9-year-old chocolate lab-rottie mix, was attacked yesterday afternoon while he was out on his lead using the bathroom by two neighbors' pitbulls. They just ran into the yard and attacked him, biting and ripping at him while I heard his curdling screams. Dexter never fought back; he wouldn't hurt a fly. He was rushed to the emergency vet hospital local to us and now we've found out his leg is fractured. He needs surgery, which they are saying is going to cost $10k. $10k isn't just laying around here. He needs so much help, and we just don't have it. My daughter's dad was able to cover the first part but needs help for the rest. We have a long road ahead. We won't let them put him down for a fractured leg. Amputation is an option, but that's going to cost even more.
