Help Support Dexter in getting his needed care

Hello. My name is Martin Castro. I’ve recently taken over care for a sweet 14 year old blind and deaf Puggle dog by the name of Dexter. He was quite literally left outside to die in the cold weather. I live in an apartment complex and I heard him crying in what seemed like pain and when I went to see what I was hearing I found this shaking, shivering old dog tied to a weight in the middle of this back patio with a bowl of food and NO water. I tried numerous times to contact the owners by knocking on the door with no luck. It was 7:45am and like 45 degrees out. I contacted animal control after the numerous attempts to get the owners out. As soon as I hung up with animal control the owner opened the door. I asked them what was going on with the dog. Long story short…. The owners are a couple and the female has mental issues and when she gave the dog water he’d pee “A LOT” and it got frustrating and she would just put him out back and leave him. I asked if she just didn’t want the dog anymore and she told me she had put him on numerous adoption sites and rehoming sites with no luck due to his age and needs. So basically nobody wanted him anymore because he is old. Well I threw out that if she really wanted to just get rid of him I’d take him and care for him. I honestly didn’t think she’d just dump him on me since she’d supposedly had him his whole life but that night they came to my door and left him with me, walked away and haven’t so much as asked about him in the week and a half I’ve had him now. Well I’ve completely fallen in love with this guy but he is a lot of work. Very over whelming but I’ve become attached and my other 2 little dogs seem to like him as well. Well it was like pulling teeth to get his records from a vet but I got a random message with a screenshot of a vet record. He needs all his vaccinations and I just want to get him checked out. He pees a lot and has had a little blood in his poop but is a super active, happy, playful little guy and I want to help. But I just can’t afford the $800-$1000 vet bill it’s going to be. I thought I’d take a shot and see if anyone out there would be willing to help me help him. I’ve given him my spare room and he lives very comfortably now. I go through tons of potty pads but I can deal with that. I just need help with his much needed vet visit and vaccinations. Any help is appreciated more than you’ll ever know. He really is the sweetest boy and deserves to be happy and comfortable and that’s all I want to do for him
