Help Dexter beat leukemia
Donation protected
Dexter Drahos was diagnosed this weekend with leukemia after being ill for nearly a month. Sondra and Casey have been with him at Rady's since Friday and they have already done a bone marrow biopsy and have started chemo. Dexter's low heart rate is also a concern so the oncology, hematology, and cardiology teams are working together to make sure he is continually monitored. A long-term treatment plan will be put in place in the next few days once they know what type of leukemia he has.
Dexter is in good spirits despite everything he's gone through in just the past few days. So far, he has met over 30 new faces made up of doctors, nurses, social workers, case managers, volunteers, parent liaisons, and other support staff. He was thrilled to get a Playstation in his room today, although he can't wait to be able to go outside and run around and laugh with his friends.
Dexter has been a classmate of Giuliana's since Kinder at Solana Vista and I've gotten to know Sondra through volunteering in the classroom and doing school events together. They are a wonderful family and could use whatever support we can provide right now to ease the burden of missing work, driving back and forth daily as well as medical bills, etc.
I love this Solana Beach community so much and have seen the amazing things we can do when we come together for others. Please consider making a donation and please keep Dexter and his family in your prayers.
They are grateful for all of the love and support they've received so far from our wonderful community.
