It's hard for me to ask for help, but I'm in a situation where I have to.

I moved to Washington from Colorado to live with my friends and dwindled my savings in doing so. Their cat gave birth to kittens and prompted me to adopt one. I fell in love with Dexter because he was the runt and we bottle-fed him. He has the chillest personality.

Unfortunately, their out-of-control 14-year-old daughter got jealous that I adopted him and beat the crap out of me. The cops didn't really take it seriously since she is a minor but took her to juvie for one night. The parents totally had my back, saying she was out of control (she's done things like stealing cars, etc.) in the past few months. When she got out of jail, she threatened to kill me in my sleep, which is extra concerning considering my door hadn't been put in yet. Ultimately, it was decided that the focus needed to be on helping the daughter, and that I should move out for both of our safety.

This has left me completely homeless. I wasn't going to take Dexter with me, but the day I left, I noticed burn marks on his fur. I don't have anywhere to stay and am sleeping in my car trying to figure out a plan. I love Dexter with all my heart and would never give up on him if I had any other options. I want him to have the best life possible. He has a very laid-back, adventurous personality and would make for a very good road trip adventure cat. He's already seen three states!

I tried to give him to a good home but was encouraged by Orange Cat Behavior, a group on Facebook that has helped me tremendously, to keep him. At this point, we're both pretty attached to each other and just trying to stay together.

I'm a self-reliant person who's fallen on hard times. If you can't donate money, I'd love the opportunity for work and support on our Facebook page. I'm in contact with a graphic designer who is going to help me make Dexter stickers to sell!
