Support Dewey Alan's Journey with Acute Myeloid Leukemia

We’re reaching out to share some news about Dewey "Alan" Spitler Jr., who was diagnosed this past August with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a serious cancer that impacts the blood and bone marrow. Adding to the challenge are Myelodysplastic Syndrome and an FLT3 mutation, which increase his risk of relapse. Alan has a very difficult journey ahead, but he remains determined and ready to tackle it head-on!

Despite everything, Alan’s upbeat positivity has been inspiring to everyone around him. And with the support of his incredible girlfriend Tanya, his three kids, and close family, he knows he’s not alone in this fight. After spending nearly a month in the hospital for his initial chemotherapy, he’s now back home and ready to tackle the next phase, which includes treatments every four weeks until he reaches remission. While there’s a long road ahead—especially with a complicated bone marrow transplant waiting down the line—Alan remains strong and optimistic!

To support his recovery, Alan will need 24/7 home health care for medical appointments and daily tasks. After the bone marrow transplant, he’ll need to live near the hospital for multiple doctor visits each week, which means renting a place in Tampa. Tanya is balancing her work while being there for him, but the financial strain is adding up.
