My name is Devyn Bice. I’m your typical thirty-five-year-old, besides the fact that I just had life-saving surgery. In September, I had to have an ostomy surgery—it was very much a life-or-death situation. This was followed by two weeks of PT and OT in a rehab facility.

Thinking my troubles were behind me, I came down with a serious fever last week, only to return to the hospital.

They found E. coli had surrounded my kidneys, and I’d need minor surgeries to fix this. Following my release from the hospital, I was still in need of antibiotics via IV and would need to be put in an assisted living facility.

So here I am, loud and clear, tucked away into a nursing home in Ohio. Many people do not know that I had been planning a move to Ohio… surprise. However, this puts me away from local friends and family (gas)… and food (do not get me started on the gruel they served this morning) and just anything to occupy my time and mind.
