My mother Teresita has spent her entire life caring for others. She immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in the 1970s as a young registered nurse fresh out of college, part of a generation of Filipino nurses who came here to help others. An RN for 46 years, she cared for children, pregnant mothers, and the elderly. For more than 30 years of her career, she worked with neglected and abused children, helping some of the most vulnerable youth find safety and healing. Her life has always been guided by her deep faith and commitment to serving others.
Last December, everything changed. Early one morning around 6 AM, I found my mother having a stroke. I called for help and followed the ambulance to the hospital, praying the entire way. The stroke greatly impacted her mobility, and since then, she has been hospitalized five more times for hospital acquired infections and most recently, for a blood transfusion. My family is now caring for her at home, but she also needs ongoing therapy to help her regain strength and recover. Despite these challenges and setbacks, my mother has always been a fighter, and is finally on the mend. While it is an honor to care for the woman who cared for so many others (myself included), the medical bills, therapy, and care expenses have added up quickly.
If you feel moved to support my mother's recovery during this difficult chapter, we would be deeply grateful. Any contributions will go directly toward her medical bills, therapy, and continued care. Your prayers, encouragement, and sharing this page also mean the world to our family. Thank you for helping us care for someone who spent her life caring for others.
