My brother is a devoted father who has been in jail for a month without proper support—and his kids are left asking when they can come home.

My brother Paul is currently in custody and has been for the past month. He is a smart, hardworking, and loving father who has always had a very close bond with his children.

Before this, he was actively involved in their daily lives—caring for them five days a week, making sure they got to school on time, and taking them to their activities. He was recently awarded rights over their education in September 2025. He was also working on his mental health and taking steps to improve his life. The kids were well cared for and truly thriving under that routine.

Paul has been out of prison for about ten years and, during that time, built a life centered around his children and family. While he has recently made some mistakes, we know the person he has worked to become over the past decade. We truly believe he can get back on track with the right support and advocacy.

Since he has been in custody, everything has changed. He is currently unable to communicate with his children at all, and they are often asking when they get to come home. The sudden separation has been incredibly difficult for everyone involved.

In addition to this, the children’s routines and stability have been significantly disrupted. The week after Paul went to jail, they were removed from the only school they have attended, taken out of their regular activities, and separated from family and close friends they were seeing almost every day. People who were a consistent and supportive part of their lives are now limited to supervised visits.

We are also deeply concerned about Paul’s well-being while in custody. He has a history of PTSD, a brain injury, and chronic back pain, and we feel he has not received adequate mental health evaluation or support. He is often kept in isolation, which makes it extremely difficult for him to make important legal decisions about his future.

Our family believes it is critical that he has strong, independent legal representation to ensure his rights are protected and that his full situation is properly understood.

* Ensure he receives proper medical and mental health support
