Help Devon Heal: Brain Surgery, Housing & Hope

Donation protected
Our brilliant son, Devon, is fighting for his life, facing a third surgery this year while also desperately trying to survive homelessness in Denver. He needs his mother by his side, but I must travel immediately from Tampa, Florida, to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado, to be there for his surgery and extensive recovery. Devon has already endured two massive brain tumor removals this year. Before he can begin true healing, he must undergo a third operation to place a shunt and drain the dangerous fluid buildup (hydrocephalus) in his brain. Devon is a warrior, but he cannot recover from brain surgery on the streets.

We are asking for help to cover all immediate needs, ensuring every donation directly impacts Devon's survival and recovery. Your support will help provide stability for Devon by covering the security deposit and several months of rent to finally get him off the streets and into a safe, sterile place where he can recover from three brain surgeries this year. It will also help with my urgent travel from Tampa to Denver, essential temporary housing, local transportation, and food for the critical first month I spend managing his recovery in Colorado. Finally, donations will help pay the crushing out-of-pocket medical bills from three procedures and the necessary legal fees for his third, final attempt to secure disability benefits, which has been unjustly denied twice.

Devon is not just a patient; he is a talented, dedicated young man who was on a path to change the world. He was a double major in Mathematics and Science at the University of Colorado Denver, with his whole future ahead of him. Devon’s life changed forever on January 9, 2025, when he developed a severe headache that caused constant vomiting. An ER visit revealed a prior brain bleed and a tumor. The first surgery was necessary immediately, but extremely high-risk. During that initial operation, doctors could not completely remove the tumor because it was tragically wrapped around his optic nerve. They removed part of it to save his sight, but the residual tumor left him vulnerable. Soon after, a second tumor was discovered, requiring his second major craniotomy of the year.

Since the tumors struck, Devon has been forced to take an indefinite hiatus from his studies and lost his job. Because he lost his income and was unable to pay his rent, Devon has been homeless in Denver for the last six months—a situation that makes recovery from brain surgery nearly impossible. Your support will help us secure safe housing, cover urgent medical and legal expenses, and allow me to be by Devon’s side as he fights for his life. Please help us give Devon the chance to heal and reclaim his future.
