Help Devin recover from Long Covid

Hello, my name is Devin Lane. Thank you for reading my story. I am dealing with severe Long Covid, which is causing major financial stress, and an inability to care for myself or engage in basic activities of daily living. Your support will make a huge difference in my life.

Long Covid presents itself differently in different people. I’m experiencing brain fog, cognitive dysfunction, crushing fatigue, shortness of breath, post exertional malaise, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, tingling in my hands and feet, difficulty walking/bathing/cooking/cleaning. It’s difficult if not impossible for me to even walk to the park two blocks away. Some days I’m barely able to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. My partner has been supporting me through this, but it’s clear we need more help.

This illness has severely impacted my income. I am so grateful for the guitar students who have been with me for years, but this month I am not able to work because teaching has been causing severe headaches, fatigue, and brain fog. In June, I had to turn down an amazing job offer because even remote work is too much right now. The timeline to recovery and return to work is unclear.

When this began in January 2023 I received little to no help from medical professionals through my insurance for 4 months. Only upon finding a private functional medicine doctor and connecting to various support communities online, have I begun to turn the tide. However, private care is very expensive, especially at a time when I struggle to pay for basic living expenses. So far, it seems I am ineligible for Disability programs; this process is ongoing.
