Hello, my name is Amanda Adams & I know Devin Marks through work. For those of you who don't know him, he's a family man with a beautiful wife and three adorable young children. He is a police officer for the city of Colonial Heights, and dedicates his life to giving back to his beloved community. At the very young age of 36 years old, he received devastating news a couple of months ago. His wife has written everything so beautifully, so I've taken this from her page to explain what is going on with Devin:

"As some of you may be aware, our family received some really devastating news a few weeks ago. On September 16 we were told that Devin had a mass in his right eye and were referred to several specialists - all of which were out of state. Last week it was confirmed that this mass is in fact cancer. Nothing you want to hear especially in your 30s.

Devin has a melanoma tumor that according to the 1st doctor he saw is too large for radiation, leaving the only option to remove his eye. He has continued to seek other opinions in the hopes of being able to keep his eye while completing aggressive cancer treatments.

The type of cancer Devin has is very rare, but metastasizes in about 50% of cases. This means in half of the diagnosis cases of ocular melanoma the cancer spreads to places outside of the eye. Thankfully Devin's scans have shown his tumor has not spread!!!"

Devin has decided to go with a hospital in Massachusetts at the end of November for his cancer treatment. He will be gone for at least two weeks. Figuring out airline tickets, a place to stay, rental car, food, child care, and dog care has been a challenge. Not to mention bills the family has already received for tests he's undergone recently.
