On April 28th, Devan stayed home with his family as he thought that he had caught another typical cold or flu with his two girls Sienna (7) and Kynlee (5) who were both sick with fevers and flu symptoms. However, that night Devan's condition took a dramatic turn for the worst. They took him to the ER and he was then urgently transferred to the ICU at Swedish Hospital in Seattle via ambulance for septic shock. His kidneys had shut down, all his vitals were in jeopardy, and doctors were doing everything they could to stabilize his condition. They learned that Devan has an extremely compromised auto-immune condition which has led to the severity of his infection. The first two nights his family didn't know if he would make it through or have any answers.

Early Monday Devan was transferred to in-patient care as his condition appeared to stabilize. However, continued concerns arose and additional testing was needed. On May 3rd, he was diagnosed with meningitis; the bacterial infection in his blood has also reached his brain and spinal cord. Doctors are confident in their treatment plan against his infection and hopeful as they were able to treat his meningitis quickly. He is awake, in good spirits, and speaking with family. It is still day by day however he continues to defy the odds.

Devan is self-employed and a home inspector in the local Seattle area. He provides for his wife, Jesse and their two beautiful young girls. Any support generated will help bring a little financial stability as he is the sole income generator for their family. They will need help to pay for their regular household monthly expenses as well as looming medical costs.

While the road ahead is completely unknown we are thankful Devan is under some of the best care in the country. We will update new information as it comes available.

On behalf of the Richardson family, we would appreciate any support you can give to our beloved friends and family.

Thank you.
