Heya, I’m Dev, a chronically ill trans immigrant from the US who now lives in Antwerp. My life circumstances abruptly changed last month, which landed me into poverty and homelessness. At this moment, I only get around 8 to 10 working hours at my job. I also cannot go to OCMW for help due to it possibly bringing my immigration status into jeopardy. This all amounts to financial distress. Considering the current political climate in the US, it’s anything but safe for me as a trans person to return. In the past few years, I’ve also built my life up here, so I’d prefer to just stay here if I have the chance. All money collected through this fundraiser would be used in my search for new housing, and to help pay for groceries, health care, and my transportation costs for work.

Heya, ik ben Dev, een chronisch zieke trans immigrant uit de VS die nu in Antwerpen woont. Mijn levensomstandigheden zijn vorige maand abrupt veranderd, waardoor ik in armoede en thuisloosheid beland ben.

Momenteel krijg ik slechts 8 tot 10 werkuren op mijn job, en kan ik ook niet aankloppen bij het OCMW voor hulp omdat dit mijn immigratiestatus in gevaar zou kunnen brengen. Hierdoor begin ik in geldnood te raken.

Gezien de huidige politieke situatie in de VS, is het voor mij als trans persoon allesbehalve veilig om terug te keren. In de voorbije jaren heb ik ook mijn leven hier in België opgebouwd, en zou ik graag de kans hebben hier te blijven.

Het ingezamelde geld zou gebruikt worden in mijn zoektocht naar een nieuwe woonst, en bij het betalen van zaken zoals mijn boodschappen, gezondheidszorg en vervoer naar werk.
