Help Detroit Red with required medical care.
Hi, I'm Andy Soderberg. My Brother Gordon passed away March 17th, leaving behind his beloved friend Detroit Red. She is in need of anoperation (spaying, tumor & cyst removal) as well as the meds associated with recovery. As we were not able to find a permanent home for her in Detroit, we will be bringing her to live with us in San Marcos.
Monies raised will be used as follows:
Medical surgeries (2) estimated $500-$600
Medicine post surguries estimated $200-$300
Transport from Detroit to San Marcos $1,100
Gordon was a Navy Corpman during the Iran-Iraq war, he was also a first responder to hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. among other disasters with Team Rubicon. For the past 10 years Gordon had been working with Detriot Blight Busters to help clean up blight in the city.
He also built a a community garden where all the produce is given free to the community. What I am trying to say, is that Gordon spent his life in service to the community and this Country. He gave all he had to others, leaving very little for himself and his companion.
Detroit Red had helped him cope with his PTSD providing him with unconditional love and affection. Red was extremely important to him.
Gordon would take her to many of the clean-up project where he trained hundreds of volunteers to clean up a lot, or even tear down an abandoned house. Everyone loved to see Red at these events.
So, if you ever worked with Gordon in service to the community, disaster recovery, Farm City Detroit, or you just love dogs, please consider contributing to this fund to help her be healthy and live out her life with us. Thank you.
