My name is Kelly. For five years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of managing the Detroit City FC 2010B Rouge team. While my son is out there on the pitch, this entire roster has become my family. I’ve watched these kids transform from passionate players into fierce leaders, bound together by a level of grit, heart, and brotherhood that you simply cannot coach. They don't just play soccer; they play with the spirit of Detroit. And right now, they are doing something historic.
For the third consecutive year, this homegrown squad has fought their way through the Michigan State Cup to earn a spot at the National Championships which is taking place this year in Provo, Utah. Winning is hard. Staying at the top year after year is almost impossible—but these kids refuse to back down. In youth soccer, big-budget suburban clubs often dominate the landscape. Our team has built a legacy on pure hustle, talent, and relentless work ethic. They have proven that it doesn't matter where you train; it matters how much heart you bring to the game.
Our journey to Nationals is backed by a pretty impressive legacy: three consecutive seasons of advancing out of the Michigan State Cup, rising to the top of elite divisions, and consistently defeating the highest-ranked club teams in the region. Now, they’ve earned the right to represent Detroit and the entire state of Michigan against the absolute best youth teams in the United States.
The real hurdle is the high expenses and high stakes. Traveling from Detroit to Provo, Utah is a 1,600-mile journey. We are a tight-knit community team, and the skyrocketing costs of flights, hotels, and daily meals create a massive burden for our families. Our funding is low, but our determination is high. We refuse to let a price tag dictate a child’s future or strip them of an opportunity they bled for all season. We need our community to help bridge the gap.
Every single dollar raised goes directly into a secure team fund to cover cross-country travel, accommodations, and group meals for the players. This isn’t just about a soccer tournament. It’s about proving to a group of hardworking kids that when you pour your soul into a dream, your community will rally to make it happen. Whether you can contribute or simply share this link, you are putting a Detroit kid on a plane to chase a National Title. Thank you for believing in Detroit City FC 2010B Rouge. Let’s bring it home! Let’s Go City!
