We are reaching out for support during an incredibly difficult time for a loved one who is currently being held in a detention center far from home. He has been held in the San Luis Regional Detention Center for approximately 1 month and 2 weeks as of April 3, 2026. For confidential purposes, his name is not being disclosed at this time, however we hope his story can touch others as he has no means to support himself. He is living with diabetes and other serious medical conditions which include a lingering eye infection that hasn’t been treated properly for 2 months and high blood pressure. He has not been receiving the proper care he urgently needs inside the detention center. He does not have access to his medication, nor access to any type of temporary medication. Due to the language barrier, he was not able to communicate his condition at the beginning of his arrest. Staff dismissed it thinking it was not a real medical problem. Without adequate medical attention or legal support, his health and well-being continue to decline. His immediate family is not available to advocate for him due to being out of the country and is relying on extended family members who are doing everything they can from another state, currently in California. His only goal is simple but deeply important—to return home, reunite with his family, and receive the medical care he needs to stay healthy and safe. Unfortunately, the cost of hiring a qualified attorney and managing legal expenses is far beyond what he or his family can afford at this time. We are asking for your help to give him a fair chance. Your support will go directly toward securing proper legal representation and ensuring he can safely return home where he belongs. Sin una atención médica adecuada ni apoyo legal, su salud y bienestar continúan deteriorándose. Su familia directa no puede interceder por él, ya que se encuentra fuera del país, por lo que dependen de familiares más lejanos que están haciendo todo lo posible desde otro estado (actualmente desde California). Su único objetivo es sencillo, pero de suma importancia: regresar a casa, reunirse con su familia y recibir la atención médica que necesita para mantenerse sano y a salvo.
