Help Destroy Star's Debt!

so i have been hesitant about making this gofundme, but frankly this monetary issue has been taking a huge toll on my mental health and making it hard to put into savings for my future.
the story:
last year my ex roommate scammed me out of hundreds in rent and approx $1,600 from paypal. i tried to get my money back but unfortunately he had obviously done this before and went through loopholes using credit cards and other tricks to make it impossible to get my money back or take legal action.
he also stole money from christmas cards i received in the mail, lied about the heat being broken (he wasn't paying for it) and much more. luckily he has been out of my life for over a year now, but not after a long, exhausting battle to get him evicted.
in order to keep my paypal account i had to put the $1,600 on a credit card which i have been slowly paying off, but haven't made much progress on it. i work from home as a freelance illustrator and have myself and a small dog to care for. i am working hard to establish more projects and other sources of income for my art, but currently my income is very unstable and my budget is tight.
i would not be asking for help if this was a problem i got myself into. but this was a very unfortunate circumstance with a manipulative person and i just want it to be over.
i am making my goal $1,600. i don't want this to be a goal campaign necessarily, after a while whatever i reach after a certain amount of time will be what i get. this is more a "please help" then a straight up emergency, but it is getting urgent. i want to be able to put money in my savings again, i want to be able to just worry about my bills and not this huge debt looming over my head.
i appreciate anything even if it's just a dollar or two. <3 i will be frequently updating with the balance of my card just to assure everyone it is going to that source.
