My name is Destiny, and I am a high school journalist with a passion for telling the stories of rural communities. Recently, I was honored to be nominated by my English teacher to attend the Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC). As someone who competes in UIL Journalism and dreams of a future career in rural political journalism, this opportunity means the world to me.
Attending WJMC will give me the skills and knowledge I need to better represent the voices of small towns and ensure that every community’s story is valued in national policy discussions. The conference will connect me with mentors, peers, and professionals who share my dedication to journalism and public service. I believe that every community, no matter how small, deserves to have its stories told and its needs heard.
The funds raised will help cover my tuition, housing, food, travel, and staffing costs for WJMC. Your support will make it possible for me to participate in this invaluable experience and take a big step toward my goal of building a future career as a rural political journalist. Thank you for considering donating to help me seize this opportunity and make a difference for communities like mine.
