My name is Amy and I’m the mother to a smart, beautiful, young lady known as Destinee. She will be graduating high school this year (2026) and headed off to college.

Destinee was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just 4 years old, and despite using an insulin pump and CGM, she still faces dangerous lows and highs. As a parent, it’s terrifying to watch her navigate this on her own.

We’re raising funds to get her a medical service dog. This dog is specifically trained to alert her to blood sugar fluctuations, provide comfort, and retrieve her medical bag when needed. The presence of this service dog would serve as a reliable companion, supporting her in gaining greater independence and peace of mind.

Destinee’s love for animals runs so deep—it's a pure, unwavering passion that fills her heart with hope and joy. She longs so fiercely for a service dog by her side, a loyal and caring companion to walk with her through every moment of her daily life. This dog wouldn’t just be a helper; it would be a beacon of safety, shielding her from the terrifying unpredictability of high and low blood sugars. More than that, this incredible bond would bring her comfort, offer her a rare sense of peace, and ignite a newfound spark of independence she desperately craves.

Being a teen should be about dreams, laughter, and discovery—yet she is faced with a relentless battle each day, juggling school, a part time job, and a relentless medical condition that never takes a break. The weight of this invisible struggle bears down on her, filling her with worry, fear, and stress. Every day is a fight for normalcy, for a moment of relief from the constant vigilance her condition demands. She deserves to live her life fully and freely, to experience the simple joys of her teen years without the overwhelming shadow of her health. She deserves a future filled with hope, happiness, and the reassurance that she is not alone in her journey.

We are collaborating with Real Life K9 in Moultrie, GA for all training. Training will consist of scent work, alerting for high and low blood sugars, retrieve, basic obedience and public work and support for at-home training.

Specialized training costs about $700 weekly. In the end, total costs amount to $10,000. The training program typically spans approximately one year, depending on the individual progress of the dog. This includes periods when the dog resides with us at home between training sessions, during which we conduct supplementary training using guidance from professional K9 trainers.
