I’m here To Hopefully Raise Funds to Be Able To be able to afford My Sons Cancer Treatments and Provide a Safe & Healthy Home for my Babies. I wanted to share a bit about His Story & Why We Need Support!
Since Christmas morning Two Years Ive watched helplessly as my son fought off a collapsed lung, organs like his liver, kidney, heart shutting down, and 75 ounces of fluid compressing his heart and filling his little body with sepsis. Watched as he struggled through the fear of days without out a Diagnosis. Watched him fight for his sanity, safety and autonomy while in the hospital for 115 days straight at only 4 years old. Hours away from home & his siblings. Learning how to walk again, eat again, and even do things he enjoys like play with legos and spider man toys.
He fought so hard for so long, but his fight is still nowhere near done. His diagnosis. Pericardial Lymphangioma. Is So Rare there are only 35 other known diagnosed cases in the world, only 2 of them also being in pediatric/ childrens cases. With the very little information known about this condition all treatment plans are essentially trial & error.
Desmond Has Been Taking an Oral Chemo
Every Single Day for 956 Days Now. With no final dose in the foreseeable future.
Between the 6,500$ cost a month for his Medicine (not covered by any insurance for his specific diagnoses), travel to & from hospitals 4.5 hours away, childcare, Lodging, groceries for a family of 5 and the cost of even basic living expenses these days. My One Income just isn’t covering anything anymore. I’ve even had to cut back on work hours as I couldn’t keep up with the cost of childcare for my Youngest. Which has now put us in an even worse financial situation.
All of this not even including that just before Desmond’s Diagnosis I left an abusive marriage and moved back to my childhood home with my mother, into a house that is quite literally falling apart from leaks in the roof, to crumbling plumbing. But also CONFIRMED, Toxic Mold that we are CERTAIN is a factor in his cancer.
I’ve reached out to and applied for every state resource and assistance program possible but all have told me the wait list for even
Bare minimum help is months if not years out.
I can’t even get afford a lawyer or get an appointment with the attorney general for less than eight weeks out to finalize my divorce & apply for child support.
Knowing I can’t do anything more on my own is breaking my heart. I know many of us feel like we’re in a system set up to fail but I refuse to fail my children in providing them a safe, healthy home and their basic needs being met. Even if it means having to ask strangers on the internet for a helping hand.
