WHERE'S THE MONEY GOING?
EMME has most recently been invited to show at Santa Fe Indian Market August 18, 2019. The Santa Fe Indian Market Haute Couture Fashion Show highlights Indigenous fashion designers who look to their cultural past to create clothing, jewelry and accessories that embody the essence of ancestral memory while creating innovative designs representing the now.
It is an incredible honor to be invited to show at Santa Fe Indian Market, but often opportunities like this are missed because of the financial obligation associated. I am a team of one. So the burden of expenses is solely on my shoulders. And often that burden is too overwhelming. I am unable to come up with the funds alone in the next month. I am asking for help in order to kick start the next collection and show on this huge platform in order to change the projection of this business. EMME needs a leg up.
Not only do we have to invest in all the materials in creating a full collection, but also flights, lodging, multiple bag check fees, food etc. I'd also like to rebrand our packaging and materials in order to keep in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, as we are a sustainably focused brand.
WHO IS EMME by Korina Emmerich?
Korina Emmerich of EMME has built her brand on the backbone of Expression, Art and Culture. Leading the charge to embrace art and design as one and weaving it into her brand story, her colorful work is known to reflect her indigenous heritage stemming from The Pacific Northwest, Puyallup tribe. Originally raised in Oregon, Korina Emmerich developed her brand in Brooklyn NY and cultivated a loyal following and successful path as a truly unique contemporary fashion designer. She debuted her Spring Summer 2015 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion week and has continued to develop her work to reflect sustainability and responsibility in an ever changing fashion world.
The EMME Team stands with the Fashion Revolution movement and their beliefs in sustainable action, human rights, fair wage and transparency in the industry. https://www.fashionrevolution.org/

WHY CROWD FUNDING?
I was recently invited to speak in London at The Library Study Hall, in association with the United Nations. Study Hall is an education initiative and non-profit organization focused on sustainable literacy. Study Hall Conferences are cross-cultural and inter-disciplinary gatherings of the minds exploring tangible eco-solutions to bring to market.
You can watch our panel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLNJL2HNWGykEmVnEPpNOIjS1QG7BehD9y&time_continue=17&v=JXCONaerws4

This conference solidified my goals moving forward. Focusing on transparency and sustainability. That's where you come in! I believe it is important as an indigenous owned sustainable business to be extremely transparent about where my funding originates and how those funds are being used.
Initial break down of our budget from this small loan:
Loan Total: 5k
Fabric and Materials for 10 look collection: 3k
Travel expenses (food, flight, lodging, fees): 1k
Branding updates (sustainable packaging materials): 1k
All of our items are made-to-order in our Brooklyn, New York studio. Our production runs are manufactured locally in The New York Garment District on 38th street. We are strict on our minimal waste policy and are always trying to find ways to re-invent "leftovers" and "scrap" material and turn them into fabulous fashions!
We want to unite the fashion industry and ignite a revolution to radically change the way our clothes are sourced, produced and purchased, so that what the world wears has been made in a safe, clean and fair way.
HOW THIS WILL CHANGE OUR PATH
While we've met a lot of success on this path, those incredible successes are not always met with a financial gain. This loan will help reinvigorate the brand and catapult sales. I am extremely grateful for the support we've gained over the years, and am hoping that support will continue. I no longer want to tread water. I am ready to walk forward confidently into the future. It is with this I am ready to ask for help. I want to continue to create beautiful designs. I want to continue to support the indigenous community with my voice. I want to stand tall against issues with the fashion industry and promote sustainability, morals, ethics and equality in this industry. But I need your help. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story. And thank you for helping EMME reach it's goal!
xx Best,
Korina
