Hello, meet my handsome nephew, DeShawn Callwood from the Virgin Islands. He is a quiet and respectable 11-year-old fourth-grade student and a straight-A student, whose favorite subject is Science. He aspires to one day become a doctor to help others, but is fascinated with big trucks, and he tells everyone that he wants to become a “truck man.” DeShawn was recently suddenly admitted to a local hospital for severe pain and massive ongoing headaches, where bleeding in his brain was discovered. Emergency plans are being executed to have him airlifted to the United States for IMMEDIATE brain surgery. On behalf of the Callwood family, we extend our sincerest gratitude in advance for your prayers and any financial support toward this costly procedure in helping to give this promising young boy a fighting chance at life.
I am DeShawn Callwood’s uncle. DeShawn is my 11-year-old nephew from the Virgin Islands. He is a kind, respectful, and intelligent fourth-grade student who recently experienced a sudden and life-threatening medical emergency involving bleeding in his brain.
The donations will be used to support the urgent medical and logistical needs of DeShawn and his family. This includes:
• Medical expenses related to his emergency airlift and brain surgery in the United States
• Temporary housing and meals for his mother, who is currently staying by his side at a hospital over three hours from their home
• Transportation costs for family members traveling between home and the hospital, as well as to the mainland U.S. for treatment
• Any additional recovery-related costs not covered by insurance, such as medications, follow-up care, and caregiving support
All funds will be managed by the Callwood family and allocated responsibly to ensure that DeShawn receives the best possible care during this critical time.
DeShawn is a bright, promising young boy who dreams of becoming a doctor one day. He loves science, big trucks, and brings joy to everyone who knows him. His sudden illness has deeply shaken our family, and his condition requires immediate and specialized medical intervention. This fundraiser is a lifeline to help him get the urgent care he needs and to support his mother during an incredibly stressful and emotional time, as she stays by his side.
We are reaching out to our extended family, friends, church members, community groups, and compassionate individuals around the world through social media, messaging apps, email, and word of mouth. As DeShawn’s uncle, I am helping organize this fundraiser with the family’s full support. We are deeply grateful for every donation, prayer, and share — your kindness and generosity are giving DeShawn a fighting chance.
