Derrick is a devoted father, grandfather, and husband from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. As my younger brother, I’ve always admired his selfless nature and the way he stepped up to raise his three grandchildren alongside his wife, Rachel. Even after facing major health challenges—including open-heart surgery two years ago—Derrick never stopped putting his family first.

Recently, Derrick’s life changed dramatically. A severe accident left him paralyzed, with only limited use of his arms and hands. Daily life became incredibly difficult. But Derrick is a fighter. After six months of therapy and hard work, he’s slowly regaining movement in his arms and legs. His determination gives us hope that one day he will walk again.

Rachel has taken on the enormous responsibility of caring for Derrick and their grandchildren—managing everything from household chores to emotional support. The weight of these challenges is heavy, but their love and resilience remain strong.

Now, Derrick needs our help to continue his recovery. We’re raising funds for a specialized wheelchair and rehabilitation costs. With focused physical therapy, standing becomes possible—giving Derrick hope. This progress will allow him to care for his grandchildren, enjoy time outdoors, and ease some of the burden on Rachel.
