Help Derrick recover his voice and beat cancer

Dear friends and kind-hearted strangers,

My name is Adelaide, and I am raising funds on behalf of Derrick my brother.

Derrick a thirty year old based in Ghana , West Africa has always loved to sing and has been involved in singing groups in his local community. Unfortunately, Derrick was diagnosed with cancer and has been battling nasopharyngeal cancer, a rare and aggressive cancer that originates in the upper part of the throat behind the nose. For the last year, Derrick has been fighting for his life and his voice, and I am reaching out on his behalf for your support to have an extensive treatment to regain his voice.

So far, Derrick has had rigorous rounds of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The intensity of the treatment made it impossible for him to work, and the mounting medical ills have taken a toll on him, his family and his friends. His family has faced significant expenses not covered by health insurance, including medication, specialised care, alternative therapies and the basic costs of living due to the loss of employment. The costs have added up quickly and the stresses of financial insecurity for the whole family and friends has added a burden that makes this battle extremely tough. Due to these reasons, his treatments have stalled.

On behalf of Derrick and his family, I am humbly asking for your support to help him, and his family get through this trying time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in his ability to focus on healing and surviving this disease. An estimated £15,000 is needed for Derrick's recovery.

Donations will go directly towards:

• Medical bills and treatment costs not covered by health insurance

• Medications and alternative therapies (physiotherapy, speech therapy, ear-nose-throat specialist care) to ease side effects and complications

• Daily living expenses for Derrick so that the whole family can focus entirely on his recovery

• Transportation to and from treatment centres
