Help Derrick Along his Cancer Fight Journey

We are raising funds to assist my nephew, Derrick Young, and his family as they navigate his cancer diagnosis, chemo treatments, a new baby being born, and potential lost wages along the way.

My sweet 26-year-old nephew, Derrick, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin Lymphoma, which has also entered his bone marrow. The goal of his doctor and medical team is to cure with an 80% chance on the efforts of one course of aggressive chemotherapy, which would last 6 months at first. This has the potential to take more than one course of treatment, however. Derrick is a wonderful, positive soul and we, as his family, are remaining positive for a cure eventually.

However, the chemo will be incredibly tough on his body, and while he intends to remain at his job as he deals with his treatments, there will potentially come a time wherein rest and days off will need to occur in increasing quantity. The symptoms of chemo will create an immunocompromised body, along with massive fatigue, nausea, hair loss, low blood counts, mouth sores, etc.

Derrick and Keelee are also expecting their second child in May, as all of this chemo treatment gets underway. Derrick had his first treatment on April 9th, 2025, and will continue on an every two-week cycle.

While we all remain positive for the future, this circumstance and healing journey will strongly impact Derrick and his family, as medical responsibilities begin.

We are hoping to get them some financial assistance as they navigate this challenge.
