Derek and his mom are both disabled and live on a fixed income. They are in an emergency situation and need help. Their A/C broke down over a month ago and they spent the last of their money getting it fixed. In the meantime, while living without air conditioning, their condo became infested with mold. They are now looking at thousands of dollars to do critically needed mold remediation in their home.

A mold remediation company that inspected the condo and gave them a free estimate told them the infestation is bad enough that they may need to go so far as to have walls taken out. They will definitely have to have serious work done in their kitchen and bathroom, including replacing cabinets and drawers.

Derek's mom has a compromised immune system. She has MS and is bed-bound, so the mold remediation is urgently needed to protect her fragile health. Derek has muscular dystrophy and his health is deteriorating as well due to the mold. In addition to health impacts, they've lost clothing, furniture and irreplaceable family heirlooms to the damage.
