Hello Everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I have a hard time asking for help but in this situation I am really needing financial support.
In June of last year I was having nervous system problems and discovered that tumors were re-growing in my spinal cord. If not treated the tumors will grow to a point of blocking my bodies ability to function and become fatal. I have a very rare condition where tumors grow inside of my spinal cord just below my brain stem. Ten years ago the tumors grew to the size of a hotdog and if I did not get surgery to remove them I would have died 2 months later. I am still recovering from surgery today. In the U.S. I have 2 options for treatment, surgery and radiation therapy. My neurosurgeon believes that getting surgery again in the same area could be fatal. If I survived the surgery the best outcome would be me paralyzed from the neck down and on a ventilator for the rest of my life. According to the radio oncologist, radiation therapy would only stop the growth for a short amount of time. In addition, radiation targeting my spinal cord and brain would cause further paralysis and shorten my lifespan. Both doctors have agreed that there is currently not a treatment option that would prove to be successful for me in the U.S.
BUT THERE IS STILL HOPE. After receiving this devastating news, my wife and I researched my condition extensively for months. We came across a medical center in Spain that treats my rare condition. With the medical advancements that the center offers, they are able to remove the tumors and stop the regrowth. I have been in communication with doctors at the center for the last year and they are very confident in treating my condition effectively. All the doctors I am working with have urgently requested I get treatment as soon as possible. The longer I prolong treatment the more likely tumor growth will occur causing more paralysis and eventually becoming fatal.
With all this to say I will need to travel to the medical center in Spain to receive treatment. Unfortunately with the center outside of the U.S. it is not covered by insurance. The cost for treatment and traveling expenses is $30,000. If possible I am trying to raise an extra $4,000 for someone to come and support me while receiving treatment.
In the past I would not have asked for support and tried to have done it all myself. Now having a wife and five kids(one on the way) I am really wanting to be there for them. I love my family and really hope I can be apart of their futures. Any support you can give would get me closer to making that future possible.
