Hello, this is Criminal Justice Institue's Law Enforcement Recruit Class #215. We are creating this fundraiser due to an unfortunate and unforeseen life event for one of our classmates and her family. Cassie Butler, our amazing recruit, just discovered that her husband, Larry Butler, who has been a Law Enforcement Officer for over 25 years, suddenly fell ill and has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, with lesions on his liver. Deputy Butler retired as a Detective from Adams County Sheriff's Office, Indiana. Deputy Butler, Cassie Butler, and two of their four beautiful children moved to Ocala, Florida where he now works as a Deputy for Sumter County Sheriff's Office. Cassie Butler has a passion for helping others as she has been working as a nurse priro on deciding to continue a life of service but in the capacity of becoming a Law Enforcement Officer. Cassie Butler has also been hired by the Ocala Police Department. Unfortunately, Deputy Butler became ill and was evaluated at the hospital where he and his family were then given the horrible news that he has stage 4 colon cancer. Can you imagine going into the ER for severe stomach pain and 24 hours later you and your family find yourselves in the battle of a lifetime? On top of receiving this news, they have also been burdened with a vast array of medical bills associated with his current and future treatment. Their life as they know it has been completely turned upside down. Deputy Butler wishes for his wife to finish the academy with her current classmates. Their four beautiful children; ages 21, 19, 15 and 10 and are still processing this horrific news. With only being in the community for 6 months and having no immediate family to support them, we as CJI's LE Recruit Class #215, we are stepping up to do everything possible to support this kind, beautiful, and dedicated family.
