Hi, I'm Steven.

I'm starting this fundraiser for my friend Deon. He is a self employed science guru & teacher. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2022. For a little over a year now, with the help of his doctors and treatments he has been working his way towards a successful recovery and things were starting to up until April 8th, 2024 when suddenly he started having major pain in his abdominal region. He was admitted into the hospital on April 15th. Today is April 17th and we have found out that he needs to have surgery.

Deon is a truly special, dedicated, and extremely hard working human being. He absolutely loves to pass on his vast knowledge of the sciences. He even helped me when i needed it in the anatomy section of Certified Veterinary Assistant college class. Deon is constantly preparing, trying, and finding new ways to improve his classes in order for the students to get the best education. He literally built it from the ground up starting in his garage and with just a handful of students. Now he has an absolutely beautiful laboratory that he just finished completely revamping, in December, himself without the help of any hired contractors. His vision he made it happen with help from us, his close friends and family, while also going through cancer treatment. He finished it just in time for Christmas which thrilled him because that meant the students were getting a new space to learn in. I don't know anyone who has more drive and is more passionate about what they are doing them Deon is.

The entire time span that Deon has been dealing with and fighting against this unfortunate and unforgiving disease; from the symptoms, to the diagnosis, through the chemo & radiation, pain, discomfort, and everything that comes with it... (Besides going to a doctor appointment that couldn't be scheduled for any other time or day) Deon never cancelled a class. I know Deon has been in some tremendous pain at various points throughout. I also know that no one else would have been willing to stand in from of a bunch of kids and teach them and try to be as composed as one can be in that situation while dealing with max 10/10 pain. That takes some type of super-human dedication.

April 9th, 2024 - until further notice, all classes have been cancelled following this new complication in which surgery is required and his life is dependent on it...

We are trying to raise money for whatever he needs it for. It will most likely go towards rent and bills (home, office, utilities, and car). It could very easily go towards doctor and hospital bills. It could go towards finding and hiring a substitute to fill in for the rest of the school year.

If anyone deserves a go fund me it's definitely Deon, because the only thing that has been able to stop Deon from doing what he does, is this, that he is deal with at this very moment.
