Help Denver get life saving vet care!

Hi, my name is Cheyenne! I am the owner/mom of Denver, my five year old Bernese Mountain dog who's been a light to me, my family and friends. He has a huge personality and is the sweetest dog you'll meet. Denver is a bundle of energy and always ready for an adventure, so seeing him impacted so hard by this illness is hard to see.

I had noticed one day that he was reluctant to move, and a decrease with his breathing and appetite. As 2 days passed, he only got worse! He was laying in the same spot all day, wouldn't want to get up to use the bathroom, whining and not consuming enough water, so we decided to take him into the animal clinic because this was far from how Denver acted on the normal. After X rays, blood work etc we were told he had hyperthermia, and as for his decline in mobility they needed to do more testing for this. Once X rays came through, there were no clear signs of problems, they decided to send us home with medication that would help with soft tissue damage if that was the underlying issue.

3 days into his new medication and only seeing him get worse, I was convinced that we had needed to move hospitals to get more answers. He had one more check up with the original hospital where they gave him medication to relieve any kind of pain until he could see the specialist.

The Next day we got Denver into the Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital. Here they reviewed his results from the previous clinic and after further investigation and viewing Denvers discomfort they decided to move further with testing.

During the examination they found he had a high fever of 40.5 C and several of his lymph nodes (the small glands that are apart of the immune system) were enlarged in is back legs and groin area. As well concerned about his breathing because of the extreme panting and his oxygen being a bit low. To support that they gave oxygen support, fluids trough IV and pain medication. The new X rays taken shown no sign of Pneumonia or cancer spread.

Based off the doctor's findings, their main concern is that Denver may have a condition called Immune- Mediated Polyarthritis (IMPA). This is a condition where the body's own immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, causing inflammation, pain, fever and stiffness.

To know for sure if this is what's happening, and to rule out other possible causes like infections or cancer, they need to perform more specific tests. Those include taking fluid samples from his joins and cell samples from his enlarged nodes, as well as getting a more detailed look at his abdomen with a CT scan.

They concluded to tell us that it is very important that we proceed with the follow up testing ASAP, as his condition is serious and will worsen without a specific diagnosis and treatment.

Unfortunately after getting this news back and reviewing the invoice for his treatment plan, we quickly realized that we can't manage this on our own. Because of this the doctor gave us a few days of medication to keep Denver comfortable and pain free in the meantime, in hopes that we can gather enough money to get Denver well.

We created this Go fund me to get Denver the help he needs to get these next set of tests done, and any further testing/procedures that may come into play.

We (and Denny) appreciate any donations, no matter the size. This will help him get the care he needs and deserves, just a share would mean everything xx
