I would like to take a moment to celebrate my 10-year Anniversary with you all! I can’t believe this all started in 2009. Wow, how time flies, and I am so very thankful for such a wonderful community of dancers and supporters. We all have a home at DDC, no matter your background, age, skill level or how often you come for class. I truly had a vision of wanting to create a sanctuary that was inclusive of everyone, and it warms my heart to think I hopefully have succeeded over the years in my vision.
Denver needed a community such as this years ago, and with your support and faith, and many angels along the way, we have a place I consider sacred. A place where the artist in all of us can thrive, grow, keep up our skills, and feel nurtured physically and emotionally.
As many of you know, over the past few years, the cost of living has skyrocketed for much of the Denver Metro area. Unfortunately, those increased costs affect local businesses as well. I have experienced an increase yearly in my overhead rents and taxes since I opened in 2009. My landlord has informed me that those increases will appear this year come October with a very significant increase
unfortunately, likely due to an overall elevated real estate market here in Colorado. This increase in rent and NNN expenses will cost an extra $10,,000 per year. I have tried my best to weather the storm of these costs, knowing that I want to keep classes affordable for everyone at the same time. I am now seeing that unless I can raise capital, the sustainability of DDC will not be long lived. Though this is a tough situation to be in, I am hopeful that with the support of everyone in our community, I can assuage the financial pressures and a possible closing of the doors of DDC.
We were recently featured on The Denver Channel 7News about our situation. Here is the link:https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/our-colorado/just-being-squeezed-out-with-rents-rising-denver-dance-center-fights-to-stay-afloat
So…, on that note, I am kindly asking for your help to make this happen. Every amount given will help in our goal to keep the door open.
In summary, I believe we have a strong community of dancers, supporters, and friends who can help maintain the viability of DDC with the hard work of myself and others moving forward. My hope is to secure a future for Denver Dance Center in the years ahead.
With much appreciation~
