Denny High Charity Bungee Jump

Donation protected
We are a group of Senior pupils at Denny High School, Falkirk, taking part in a charity bungee jump near Killiekrankie. In normal times, without the presence of Covid-19, we would hold an annual Charity day for each of the 5 charities we support as a school- Strathcarron Hospice, Cancer Research, SAMH, Calum’s Cabin and Help for Heroes. Because these days have been cancelled this year, we are undertaking a bungee jump to raise as much as we can on Sunday 6th June. We will split the total funds we raise equally between each of the charities. Our 5 houses are; Dumyat, Hartfell, Lomond, Cruachan and Schiehallion and each support 1 Charity.

Dumyat’s charity is Strathcarron Hospice who provide specialist palliative and end of life care to people living in Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. They care for people with terminal illness such as cancer, lung, heart or kidney failure and a variety of non-malignant and neurological diseases. Strathcarron Hospice are also involved in research into palliative care and promote it through the local area and beyond.

Hartfell’s charity is Cancer Research, who’s aim is to cure all types of cancer. They are the world’s largest independent funder of cancer research and with cancer cases on the rise globally, the charity believe we can only beat cancer by working together! They focus their efforts in supporting world-class cancer research as well as working alongside researchers, governments and other organisations.

Lomond’s charity is SAMH- Scottish Association for Mental Health. The charity work in over 60 communities and have been operating for nearly 100 years. They provide mental health support as well as services in primary care, schools and further education. Alongside national campaigns to highlight the importance of our mental health, the charity aims to influence positive social change.

Cruachan’s charity is Calum’s Cabin, a local charity based in and around the Glasgow area, and was set up in memory of Calum Spiers, who sadly passed away just over a year after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour, at just 12 years old. The charity has a cabin as well as a cottage on the Isle of Bute to accommodate families with sick children for a week, free of charge, to have a relaxing family time. Calum’s Cabin also have flats in Glasgow for families to use when they are visiting the city for treatment in hospitals, and home is a long way away.

Schiehallion’s charity is Help for Heroes, who believe that everyone who serves our country deserves support when they’re wounded. The charity helps veterans and those still serving who have suffered physically and psychologically by providing a wide variety of support to both them and their families, who are also affected.

We really appreciate your time and any donation you can spare for these worthy causes in these challenging times. Thank you!
