Dennis has spent his life giving everything he has to others—but now he needs the community he’s always supported to stand with him.
After fighting—and beating—leukemia the first time, Dennis and his family used more than $50,000 of their own savings to get him through treatment. Plus the multiple expenses they incurred, while having to live away from their home. They were gifted just nine precious months at home before the leukemia returned. This time, the diagnosis is terminal.
Dennis is an extraordinary man whose heart is woven deeply into the fabric of the Shuswap community. He is always the first to show up for a child in need, a family facing hardship, or a fundraiser seeking help. Together with his wife, Barb, he has supported countless Christmas family in need programs, supported youth entrepreneurs, and most notably, co-founded Shuswap Paws Rescue Society.
Shuswap Paws has saved over 2,675 cats and dogs, often at great personal cost. Many emergency rescues, medical bills, and special-needs animals were paid for directly out of Dennis and Barb’s pockets—because walking away from an animal in need was never an option.
Now, as Dennis faces the end of his life, his greatest wish is simple:
To know that his wife, their pets, and the rescue he built will not lose their home—the headquarters of Shuswap Paws—when he is gone.
Dennis has been the family’s sole income earner, making it possible for Barb to volunteer full-time saving animals across the Shuswap. Without him, the mortgage and day-to-day expenses become overwhelming.
This fundraiser is to help ease that burden—to give Dennis peace in his final months, knowing that the home he built, the animals he rescued, and the woman he loves will be safe.
If Dennis has ever helped you, inspired you, supported your cause, saved your pet, or simply touched your heart through Shuswap Paws, please consider giving back in his time of need.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to giving Dennis the security and comfort he deserves.
Thank you for helping honour the legacy of a man who has never stopped helping others.
