Our family is facing a season we never imagined. My husband, Dennis, after a sudden week-long stay in the ICU, was diagnosed in January 2023 with Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) End-Stage Liver Disease, with stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver. Since then, he has fought courageously through countless appointments, procedures, and hospital stays — including multiple admissions just this month due to complications from this devastating disease.
Dennis was originally diagnosed at only 11 years old, but for years there were no clear answers or effective treatment. Now, our only path forward is to manage his complications and get him strong enough for transplant time.
Dennis is an amazing father to our three beautiful children — Scarlet Willow (7), Stan-Lee James (5), and Silas (3) — and the love of my life. He adores his kids and is determined to fight for the chance to not only watch them grow up, but raise them — to be there for every milestone, every laugh, and every bedtime story.
As we continue this journey, the financial strain has become overwhelming. Between bills, gas for travel to and from the hospital, groceries, and ongoing prescriptions (one antibiotic alone cost nearly $4,200 out-of-pocket).
The expenses are growing faster than we can manage. Dennis’s health prevents him from working right now, and I’m doing my best to hold everything together for our family while caring for him and our little ones.
His hepatologist is in Charleston, SC, which means frequent travel back and forth as we await Dennis being placed on the transplant list and, prayerfully, for the day he receives his new liver.
We’re humbly asking for help — whether through donations or by sharing this campaign — as we navigate this difficult road. Every contribution, prayer, and word of encouragement means more than we can ever express. Everything is appreciated and nothing insignificant when it comes to your help and support.
“For where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them.”
— Matthew 18:20
