My name is Sandra and I’m trying to help raise money for a very important family. This family has been through hell in the last week. Everything started out fine and then got worse within a couple hours. Denise went into urgent care on Friday, July 11th, 2025 and found out she had cellulitis on her leg. The doctor gave her an antibiotic and sent her home. By Wednesday she wasn’t feeling well and ended up being transported, by ambulance, to a local hospital because her blood sugar dropped drastically. At this hospital it was determined she had developed sepsis from the cellulitis. The local hospital decided it was best to transfer her to a bigger hospital that ended up being about 2 hours away from home. Upon arrival to the new hospital, they continued the intravenous treatment for the sepsis. Wednesday night something unimaginable happened. Nick, her only son, received a phone call Thursday morning saying that his mother was unresponsive and her brain was swelling and bleeding. After a CT scan, it was determined she had a stroke. Doctors weren’t very hopeful that any recovery was going to happen. By day 4, with no change to any CT scans, they doctors gave Nick 3 options (transfer to another hospital, wait, or end of life). This family is strong and very hopeful. Praying every day. It had been decided to wait. By that fourth night Denise was starting to wake up and trying to pull the intubation tube out. The next morning, day 5, the neurologist said that she had started improving with what had happened the night before. Giving this family hope! As of today, Sunday, July 20th, 2025 the intubation tube is at the lowest possible point and she is pretty much breathing on her own.
Denise is the glue that holds this family together. With that being said, help is needed for a place to stay, food, and drinks. Not to mention the gas from traveling for the family that wants to be with her daily but can’t afford to stay in town. This is such a tight knit family. Always doing bonfires and parties. Always piling into Denise’s tiny home for birthday parties or just sitting outside next to her fairy gardens that her and her grandchildren made together. Anything helps in a time like this. Much love and appreciation goes to this family from my heart to theirs. Please pray for this lovely lady because she means so much to everyone who has known her. Not to mention the fact that her daughter, Jen, who has disabilities, just had her whole world turned upside down with all of this. From having her mother home with her, having fun going shopping, and just hanging out outside to having to see her laying in a hospital bed sleeping this whole time. Her grandchildren are sad but are also understanding what is happening. Nobody’s children should have to see this. But they have been rocks (even when they ask a million questions!)
UPDATE: Denise is awake!!! She isn’t totally coherent but that is just the sedation getting out of her system.
