Help Denise Rebuild After a Life-Altering Health Crisis

In February 2025, life changed in an instant for Dr. Denise Tyson- a dedicated mother, educator, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Howard University Alumna, George Washington University Alumna and Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

After contracting COVID, she was hospitalized with a severe complication: acute kidney injury. She spent days in the ICU fighting for her life, followed by a long and difficult stay in Intermediate Intensive Care. Just when it seemed she was on the path to recovery, Denise suffered a hypertensive crisis that landed her back in the ICU.

These back-to-back medical emergencies have left her kidneys functioning at only 15%. Her doctors believe she can fully recover with rest and continued care over the next few months—but in the meantime, she is unable to work.

For the past 15 years, Denise has dedicated her life to caring for others as an acupuncturist and founder of Advanced Integrative Health Group, helping countless patients heal through integrative and Eastern medicine. She has also shared her knowledge as an adjunct professor at Maryland University of Integrative Health, sharing her deep knowledge and passion with future practitioners.

As a proud Howard University graduate, George Washington University graduate and a beloved member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Denise has always embodied service, sisterhood, and community uplift. Her cheerful laugh, compassionate spirit, and unwavering kindness have touched everyone around her. She has always been the one helping others—but now, she needs our help.

This devoted healer and educator needs you. With her practice closed since February, she has no source of income. She is facing challenges, as her current lease ended on July 1st and has not been renewed. She urgently needs assistance to secure safe housing: back rent, a new security deposit, first month’s rent, and moving costs and general living expenses while she recovers.

Denise pursued a career in healthcare to help others but right now she needs your support for basic necessities—food, shelter, and utilities—while she continues to heal and prepares to return to the work she loves.
