My name is Denise, and for the past 2.8 years, I have been living with the effects of encephalitis, which caused cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks. This condition has left me bedbound, suffering from relentless headaches, severe pain in my spine, and dangerously low blood pressure. Every day, I rely on a hydration pump connected to my heart just to keep my blood pressure stable. Without ongoing treatment, I face the risk of paralysis or even death.

Despite these challenges, I am determined to regain my independence and quality of life. The state has provided an aide to help me, but my greatest hope is to travel to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for specialized spine treatments. Angel Flight has generously offered to fly me to some appointments, but after my procedures, I will need to travel by commercial flight or train to avoid jeopardizing the success of my treatments. I am also facing a 20% co-payment for my medical care, which I cannot afford on my own. Also.,the cost of a hotel or airbnb to stay the 2 weeks each visit.
