Hello, I'm Sandy. I've been working at the Flying Wienie for four years, and I'm trying to help my boss raise money for his wife's double lung transplant.
Denise is a fun-loving wife, mom and small business owner who has had to give up doing almost everything she loves to do because MAC turned into stage 4 COPD. Denise and her husband John own and operate a 'Ma and Pa' restaurant named the Flying Wienie. She was a significant part of the place, and all the customers loved her. Around 2017, Denise had to say goodbye to working and to all her regular customers. Since her absence, she's been at home on oxygen 24/7, doing her best to help any way she can. Her oxygen limits what she's able to do, and she cant comfortably do everything she loves to like, caring for the strays around her neighborhood, coming into her restaurant and working. In 2018 Denise had a scary event; she couldn't breathe at all and had to be admitted to the ICU of the hospital, just a couple of days before Christmas. When she could go back home, Denise had even more limitations that broke her heart. John, her husband, has been there supporting her and doing everything he can to keep her spirits up. Recently Denise has been approved and is on a waiting list for a double lung transplant;
Denise will use the money we raise for:
• home help and care for Denise
• Current and past-due medical bills
• deep home cleaning (just finished construction from 2020 derecho when the roof caved into bedrooms)
• air purifiers
• Pulmonary Rehab now and after transplant
• the 30-day hotel stay after being released from the hospital.
They have come to need some help because of COVID and the current economy's effect on their income. All costs have gone up for insurance premiums, deductibles, doctors and co-pays. We ask you to donate whatever you can. We thank everyone who is here to support them in their time of need. <3
